NOTES FROM THE ROAD

Your first electric road trip: plan the charging, enjoy the drive

Treat charging stops as part of the day, not an afterthought.

Use your car’s real-world range

Speed, temperature, elevation, load and heating or cooling can affect range. Use observed consumption and current vehicle guidance rather than relying on a single advertised range figure.

Verify chargers before depending on them

Check connector compatibility, access hours, payment requirements and current availability with the relevant charging operator. WheelStory does not provide a live charger map or guarantee that any charger is working.

Keep an alternative stop

Do not build a plan that only works if one charger is available at the last possible moment. Leave a sensible buffer for the route and conditions, and identify another compatible option.

Understand charging estimates

Power often changes during a session and may fall as the battery fills. The EV Charging Cost Calculator uses your chosen average effective power; it cannot predict a charging curve. Network fees, parking and idle charges may add to the bill.

Make the stop useful

Where safe and practical, combine charging with a meal, a walk or a rest. Check the operator’s rules and return before avoidable idle fees apply. A more relaxed charging plan can make the whole day feel easier.
